Dilansir dari WorldofBuzz pada (3/6/2020) ,seekor gajah hamil ditemukan mati berdiri pada 27 Mei 2020 yang lalu.
Dilaporkan bahwa gajah yang sedang hamil
itu memakan nanas yang diisi dengan petasan yang diberikan oleh
beberapa penduduk setempat di Kerala, India.
Petasan itu meledak di mulutnya, melukainya dan menyebabkan ia tewas berdiri di atas sungai.
Insiden yang memilukan itu diketahui
oleh seorang petugas hutan di distrik Malapupuram, Kerala utara yang
menceritakan insiden tersebut melalui akun Facebooknya.

Respon Cepat sigap segera menyelamatkan gajah-gajah yang berkeliaran di
daerah warga itu.
Ia menceritakan bahwa gajah liar telah memang dilaporkan berkeliaran di daerah Malapupuram untuk mencari makanan.
Namun ternyata ada satu yang luput dari
pengawasannya, dan telah diberi nanas yang diisi dengan petasan oleh
beberapa warga setempat di sana, lapor India Today.
"Dia (gajah) memercayai semua orang," katanya.
"Ketika nanas yang dia makan meledak,
dia pasti terkejut tidak memikirkan dirinya sendiri, tetapi tentang anak
yang akan ia lahirkan 18 hingga 20 bulan lagi."
Mulut dan lidah gajah itu terlihat
terluka parah dan bahkan disebut masih berjalan di sekitar desa karena
masih merasa lapar dan kesakitan.
Krishan mengatakan dia tidak bisa makan apa pun karena luka yang ia derita.
"Dia tidak menyakiti satu orang pun, bahkan ketika dia berlari kesakitan di jalan-jalan desa," katanya.
"Dia tidak menghancurkan satu rumah pun. Inilah mengapa saya berkata, gajah ini penuh dengan kasih.”
Akhirnya, gajah pun berjalan ke Sungai Velliyar di mana dia berdiri dengan mulut dan belalainya berada di dalam air.
Kemungkinan besar untuk menghilangkan rasa sakit pada luka karena petasan yang diberikan warga itu.
Krishnan mengatakan dia mungkin bisa berusaha mencegah luka-lukanya bernanah karena lalat dan serangga lainnya.
Tim penyelamat lain telah membawa dua
gajah tawanan, Surendran dan Neelakanthan, untuk membantu mereka
mengeluarkan gajah yang terluka keluar dari sungai, lapor NDTV.
“Tapi kupikir dia memiliki indra keenam. Dia tidak membiarkan kita melakukan apa pun," kata Krishnan.
Beberapa jam berlalu ketika mereka berusaha menyelamatkan gajah hamil ini, namun tidak berhasil.
Pada jam 4 sore, gajah mati berdiri di air setelah berusaha untuk diberi pengobatan oleh tim penyelamat.
Bangkainya kemudian dimasukkan ke atas truk dan dibawa ke hutan tempat dia dikremasi.
"Dia perlu diberi perpisahan yang layak. Untuk itu, kami membawanya ke dalam hutan dengan truk."
"Dia berbaring di sana di atas kayu
bakar, di tanah yang dia mainkan dan besarkan,” kata Krishnan tulisnya
di dalam unggahan Facebook.
“Dokter yang melakukan post-mortem mengatakan kepadaku bahwa dia tidak sendirian dan kemungkinan besar hamil."
